Calculus of Association

The Calculus of Association is the unifying claim behind everything else: that intelligence can be framed as the measured calculus of association, and that the four verbs — Measure, Count, Differentiate, Compose — are its first-class operations. Not metaphors for what a system does, but the operations themselves.
Why the whole system is one instantiation
Read the mechanism layer back through this lens and it stops being a list of subsystems:
- Measuring through lenses is the calculus’s Measure;
- Loom’s agreement graph is Count;
- Assay’s bit-accounting is Differentiate;
- the grounding kernel is Compose.
The theory is the spine; the engine is its body. This is also where the rest of the Theory tier hangs: UTML applies the same posture to learning (entropy → coherence), and the Symmetry of Knowing applies it to questions. Read honestly: this is the theory behind a pre-1.0 engine — the paper makes the formal case, and the demos show the idea without overclaiming maturity.
